Limbo (PS Vita) Review

From indie developer Playdead comes Limbo, an interesting game with a moody atmosphere and puzzles will hook you till the end. It's one of those games that shouldn't be missed.

STORY- You control a lone boy, awakened in a forest, searching for his missing sister. Throughout his journey, many creatures, machines, and people are willing to kill him. Thus, giving the story a more darker feel.

GAMEPLAYLimbo is a 2D side-scroller that combines puzzle and platfroming elements. The dark style of the game hides many traps and collectables, making you pay more attention to the environment. Limbo's second half focuses more on puzzles than platforming. The game's puzzles focuses on manipulating gravity, electricity, and machinery to your advantage. However, die during a puzzle, and you'll get a gruesome animation of the boy's head being cut off or sliced, adding a bit of disturbing elements to the game. Furthermore, one major complain that the game ended too soon, when the story became interesting.

PRESENTATION- Limbo's visuals are gorgeous, it's presented as a noir-like movie. Visuals aren't colorful, instead it's black and white, perfectly fitting the game's atmosphere. As for the sound, there isn't much. The only thing you'll hear is your footsteps, wondering creatures, and some background sounds. While it may feel bland, I found it fitting the game rather well.

OVERALL- Despite it's short length and lack of replay-value, Limbo is atmospheric, fun, and dark. It's one of those short but sweet indie experience you'll find.

EXCELLENT
