Thomas Was Alone

Thomas Was Alone, is one of the most fun and interesting games out there.Featuring an unlikely set of characters, creative platforming, and narration from Danny Wallace, is it worth your time?

Story- You take the role of 2D AIs.Mainly, a red rectangle AI named Thomas.Throughout his journey in a computer mainframe, Thomas will find some interesting companions, such as John, an AI who could jump higher than him; Chris an AI who jumps lower than him, and more. All of the characters have their own shapes and personalities. The story is given more depth with excellent narration and some developer commentary.

Gameplay- Thomas Was Alone features simplistic 2D platforming mechanics. There are over 100 levels, ten in each chapter, introducing a new character.Characters have different shapes, colors, and abilities. For example, Thomas can preform average jumps and John, who is overall longer than Thomas and can preform even higher jumps. The goal in each level is to guide the characters to the exit, though there are some obstacles that will require some thinking(not really).

Visuals & Sound- Visually, the game is great. It may not be detailed or immersive, but it's colorful, bright, and vibrant. In terms of sound, it's one of the best.Danny Wallace provides excellent narration and it's great to hear.He explains the characters' motives and thoughts, giving a bit of life to characters composed of shapes.Thomas Was Alone's soundtrack, composed by David Housden, is a pleasure to hear. It's atmospheric, moody, and cheerful, which is all great.

Overall- Despite it's lack of replay-value and simple gameplay, Thomas Was Alone is a great game, accompanied by an excellent soundtrack, narration, and set of characters. It's one of most funny and addicting games out there.
