Fez

Fez is a brilliant platformer, it's charming 8-bit visuals and soundtrack are among the best.The gameplay, which revolves around changing your perspective from 2D to 3D is excellent and creative, Fez is a must play.

Gameplay- You play as Gomez, a 2D sprite who can shift between 2D and 3D worlds using his fez.Fez focuses on constant exploration, each new level has you finding treasure chests that contains either maps or keys and collecting cubes.Also, there are some well-hidden secrets scattered throughout the game, which will make use of the perspective changing mechanic.I found this mechanic to be well-executed and innovative.However, there are some flaws in Fez.There is the lack of guidance or navigation, which can be tedious at times.That being said, it does not damage the game entirely.

Switching from 2D to 3D can greatly
help solving Fez's challenging puzzles.

Visuals & Sound- Fez's 8-bit visuals are gorgeous.Although it may be simple, it's undeniably charming.Character sprites and objects are also presented in an 8-bit fashion, which suits Fez well.In terms of sound, the soundtrack nails the atmosphere.The soundtrack striking and a joy to listen.Other than that, it's all good.

Overall- Fez is one of the best indies games.The perspective shifting mechanic is well-executed and unique, as well are it's visuals and soundtrack.It's not to be missed.
