This year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) has been filled with lots of ambious and truly stunning games. From the likes of Dead Rising 4 to Persona 5, I can't wait to play these games. Anyway, without further ado, here are my top 10 games of E3 2016.
#10 Dead Rising 4
Frank West is just in time for the holiday season massacring zombies. Currently, it's a PC and Xbox One timed exclusive, so PS4 owner may or may not receive it in the future. Retaining and possibly expanding upon the open-world gameplay of Dead Rising 3, Dead Rising 4 looks one of the year's promising titles, coming this December.
#9 God of War
#8 Final Fantasy XV
Final Fantasy XV made an appearance in this year's E3 2016. While we've seen much of the game months prior, what surprised me the most was the VR feature included in the game. The showed PlayStation VR gameplay in which you mainly control Promto, one of the game's main leads, as he shoots enemies while Noctis, Galdio, and Ignis providing support. While I'm still not that excited by VR yet, I can't wait for September 30th to finally play FFXV.
#7 The Walking Dead: Season 3
Telltale's third entry in The Walking Dead game series has finally been unvield at this year's E3. While we only got a brief trailer, it seems that Clementine is now in her teens and is accompanied by newcomer Javier. Telltale has stated that more information regarding the game will be released during the summer. From what I saw, which was little, season 3 looks like it's going to be another tragic adventure for Clementine.
#6 Nioh
Originally, announced way back in 2004, Nioh was finally unveiled last month and more gameplay footage was shown in E3 2016. Brought to us by Team Ninja, Nioh is a hack-and-slash game. It takes place in feudal Japan and follows the adventure of English samurai William. Interestingly, the game let's you choose between higher frame-rates and resolution, a feature not found in many console games. The game has a beta demo coming out this August, and I can't wait to play it!
#5 The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
The Wii U Zelda has finally been showcased and it has a rather odd subtitle, Breath of the Wild. By far this is the most ambitious and huge Zelda game Nintendo has ever created to date. The areas are colorful, detailed, and just feel alive. However, I'm not sold on the combat, which looks rather simple. Additionally, I have concerns regarding the nature of the open world. Uncharted 4 had big areas but felt barren compared to The Witcher III and Assassin's Creed: Blackflag's open areas. Then again, I'll have to play it myself to see if I'll like it or not.
#4 Death Stranding
Hideo Kojima finally gave us a teaser trailer of his newest game after leaving Konami last year, Death Stranding. While still in early stages, it gave us a feel of what to expect-- a dark and engaging experience. Packing a talented team and featuring the likes of Norman Reedus, it looks like it's going to be a home-run for Kojima and PlayStation.
#3 Horizon: Zero Dawn
#2 Resident Evil 7
I was surprised the most when I saw the trailer for Resident Evil 7. Have Capcom finally listened to the fans?! Most likely, it seems like RE7 is going back to horror roots with the teaser trailer they showed. From the looks of it, it doesn't seem like a reboot since it's showcased as the seventh installment in the series. Oddly, it looks a lot like Kojima's P.T. with it's first-person view and empty but dark house. What's even more odd is that it's given a Jan. 24 2017 release date, though I'm pretty sure it's going to be delayed. If you're interested in the gamplay, there's a PS+ members only demo out now on the PSN store.
#1 Persona 5
Atlus has showcased their fifth entry of Persona during this year's E3. Packed with style and slick gameplay, Persona 5 is by far my most anticipated game of 2017. Yes, Persona 5 will be released to the west Valentines day 2017 while Japan will be getting it this September. I don't mind the relse date as long as it's coming. After they're done with Persona 5, I hope Atlus will give us another main installment of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise...
That's my 10 best games of E3 2016 and I seriously can't wait to play them and I'm hoping that some of them won't be crap. So what your favorite games of this year's E3? Please share out in the comments section below.
