ATLUS returns with Shin Megami Tensei IV on Nintendo's 3DS with a new story, cast of characters, and a better fusing system.But with the good being said, is it one of the best Role-Playing-Games on the 3DS?
You take the role of the 18 year-old protagonist as he is accepted as one of The Eastern Kingdom Of Mikado's samurai team, there he meets other newly accepted samurais.However, a Black Samurai begins turning East Mikado's people into demons, and it is up to the protagonist and his fellow samurais to put an end to the Black Samurais crimes. SMT:IV cast of characters is rather interesting because as you advance in the game, you can understand them and their motives better. The game plays in a first person view when battling and in third person while moving and exploring.You recruit up to three demons to aid you in combat, each demon has his or her advantages and disadvantages as well as his or her special abilities.Furthermore, SMT:IV's demon fusion system allows to fuse your demons for better ones which will greatly aid you in battle, there also over 400 demons to fuse and use.In addition, after a battle you earn experience points, you can increase your status abilities and more.The game's currency is Macca, you can earn Macca by finishing quests and you can buy with it weapons,armor, and items.One word to describe SMT:IV is content, the game offers a lot of content.If you want take a break from the main quests, you accept challenge quests which will earn you more Macca and unique gear.There is even more challenge in completing optional demon domains.However, there is a bit of difficulty spikes where you can die easily when facing a boss, requiring you to raise your level further.Some characters in the game are a bit flat because they are either forgotten or uninteresting.All that a side, it is on of the most unique RPG's out there.
Shin Megami Tensei IV is amazing.The game's multiple endings will have replaying the game all over again.It is also filled with content and excitement, a better fusing system, and an interesting story.It's is one of the 3DS's deep and unique RPGs.
