Developer RockStar North and publisher RockStar hits the seventh generation consoles and PC with Grand Theft Auto IV.Featuring a new cast of characters,gameplay elements, guns, and new modes of transportation.Will all the execitment be worth it?or will it fail completely?
The game follows Niko Bellic, who comes to the United States to search for someone of great importance.There he meets his cousin, Roman, but before his search begins, he is quickly involved in gangs, crime, and more.GTA IV takes place in Liberty City, based on modern day New York.The city is completely open, allowing you visit various places such as bars, clubs and more.Gameplay received new additions to help you on your journey.A covering system is introduced, which allows you to take cover next to nearby objects such as cars and walls, the enemy A.I is smart by making use of this advantage in combat.Driving mechanics are improved, giving a natural feel when driving.You can move your vehicle more freely and smoothly which is great when roaming around in the city.The game offers a wide variety of weapons and ammunition, from handguns to missile lunchers to increase your survivability in a missions, this also is a welcome addition.A downside of the game is the lack of checkpoints, if you are killed in a mission you will have to replay it from the start which can really annoying and frustrating.In addition, after finishing a mission, you earn a huge amount of money, but the thing is, there isn't a lot of items for you to buy which makes it useless.Still, it is a minor issue and cannot take you away from the experience.The characters in GTA IV are interesting to work with, some of the characters can be memorable or plain traitors depending on their actions.Throughout the course of the game, you will have the option to kill or spare some characters which will result in earning one of the two endings in the game.The Multiplayer is entertaining.There are over 15 modes to enjoy and it supports up to 16 players.Whats great about GTA IV's multiplayer is that it allows you and you friends freely explore Liberty City.Though, some lagging issues keeps it from being perfect.
RockStar has done it again with Grand Theft Auto IV.The story and characters will keep you hooked until the end as well as it's , multiplayer mode.
