Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze


Developed by Retro Studies for the Nintendo Wii U, comes this year's most challenging game yet, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.Will it be one Wii U's finest games?


Story- The plot follows Donkey Kong and company celebrating his birthday.However, the celebration is interrupted when snowmads invade DK Island.Now, it's up Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, and Cranky Kong to restore DK Island from the snowmads.

Gameplay- Tropical Freeze plays like other games in the Donkey Kong Country series, consisting of side scrolling platforming.New additions include, custom controls, to better suit your play style; picking and plucking, can help by picking up items and stunned enemies.All are welcome additions to the game, but the game could have added an easy mode for newcomers.Also, Dixie Kong returns with her hovering skill and for the first time, Cranky Kong joins the game using his cane to jump on hostile platforms.There are hidden collectibles in each level, such as puzzle pieces and KONG letters, which unlocks some pretty good content.Furthermore, Tropical Freeze is a challenging game, bosses are no exception.It will take a couple of tries to figure out each bosses attacks and patterns.However, Funky Kong is here and will offer his assistance.Funky Kong's shop can help by supplying you with extra lives, partner barrels, a parrot which can help locate hidden items, and a cool potion.

Visuals-  Tropical Freeze runs great in 60 FPS and looks great in HD. It's one of the Wii U's best looking games.Levels are detailed and distinguishable, characters and animations are fluid and good looking.Tropical Freeze is a joy to look at.

Sound- The music is composed by David Wise, who worked on the scores for original games.The soundtrack is packed with fun and memorable tunes.Every world has it's unique tunes and fits the style of the game perfectly.If you've played the original games, you'll love the soundtrack in this one.

 
Overall- Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is one of the finest games on the Wii U.The soundtrack by David Wise is awesome. Gameplay can be challenging and tedious, but rewarding in the end.Tropical Freeze is recommended.
