Classic Review: Team Fortress 2

One of Valve's best Multiplayer shooters to ever hit the PC, later released on the PS3 and Xbox 360 as part of The Orange Box, was Team Fortress 2.It was widely acclaimed from both fans and critics and won numerous awards. So does Valve's shooter still offers a great experience?

Story- There isn't a story mode in the actual game, however, it's revealed in the comics that the plot follows Builders League United (BLU) and Reliable Excavation Demolition (RED) as they struggle to battle each other. The story is a bit complex, but gives the game a reason to exist.

Gameplay- From the start you can play as one of the two factions, RED or BLU.In each of the teams there are nine different classes, each with their own abilities and weaknesses. For example, The Heavy has more health and deals more damage, but is slow and vulnerable from the back; The Scout is fast and can preform double jumps, but suffers from having the lowest health compared to the other classes. In terms of game modes, at first there were: Capture the Flag, Control Point, and Territorial Point. However, after several updates, Payload, Payload Race, King of the Hill, Arena, Special Delivery, Mann vs. Machine, and more were added, giving the game more content to be enjoyed. Also, the player limit for the Xbox 360 and PS3 is up 16 players, compared to the PC's 32 players.

Visuals- Unlike Valve's Half Life 2, Which uses real-like graphics; Team Fortress 2 approaches a cartoon-like style, which fits the game perfectly.Character models and animations looks great and fluid.Furthermore, each map and classes has their own distinct feel, giving the game more variety.

Sound- "Gentlemen!"- Spy. Team Fortress 2 features the most memorable and funniest characters in a multiplayer game.Characters are voiced professionally and have their own unique catch phrases, accents, and back-stories.The game is married with a great soundtrack composed by Mike Morasky. Each track fits the humor-tune of the game and never feels out of place. The main theme is actually one of the best in the soundtrack.

OverallTeam Fortress 2 is one of the best multiplayer games ever made.Featuring an interesting cast and lots of humor, makes it standout compared to other games.Best of all, It's currently free-to-play, so it's definitely worth the time and effort that went to it.
