Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut

Developed as an indie survival horror game by game designer, Jasper Byrne, Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut offers more content compared to the original, Lone Survivor, and is one of the best indie games out there.

Story- The game follows 'You', a lone survivor searching for other survivors after an outbreak that turned everyone into zombie-like creatures. There are different endings, Red, Blue, and Green. Each of the endings depend on the choices that you make in throughout the game.In addition, The Director's Cut offers two new endings, Yellow and White, giving the game more replay value.Throughout the game, there are odd characters, such as a man wearing a box for a head and a girl who seemingly knows you.All of these strange moments adds to Lone Survivor's intense atmosphere and will keep you entertained.

Gameplay- The game is a 2D-styled survival horror game.To ensure survival, you must scavenge and explore different areas for food, ammunition, and other survivors. In addition, Enemies can either killed or avoided, which affects the ending you'll receive. The best items are your flashlight and map. If you're lost, the map is helpful for finding your location and objectives; the flashlight will help by finding your way through the darkness, though it attracts nearby enemies and drains batteries.
Food and sleep are essential to survival and mental health.Furthermore, pills can be used to combat the need to sleep, though it can cause mental damages. However, combat is a bit simple and clunky, which could use some improvement.

Visuals & SoundLone Survivor features 2D pixel visuals.Although simple, the smooth animations and environments gives the game a lively feel.In addition, sound design in the game is really good. There are some catchy tunes and some creepy ones that matches the atmosphere. The sound of the zombie-like creatures nails it.

Overall- It's a great indie survival horror game, with a few minor issues. It lasts for about five hours with some side-quests, there are endings and collectibles to add some replay value, which is great.Lone Survivor may not be for everyone, but it's a title to be enjoyed.
