Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Review

Atlus and Arc System Works collaborate once more for the second chapeter in the Persona fighter with Persnoa 4 Arena UltimaxUltimax continues where Arena left off, with a more darker story.Featuring new playable characters, more gameplay mechanics, and a gripping story; Persona 4 Arena Ultimax contains everything great from the franchise. Will Ultimax prove to be just as entertaining as the original?

Story- Picking up a week after the P-1 Grand Prix, a mysterious red fog settles on the town of Inaba, the Shadow Operatives and the Investigation Team must now uncover the mystery behind the mysterious fog and "P-1 Climax".Story mode is divided in two sections both can be played by the perspective of the Persona 4 or Persona 3 cast, which upon completion grants a true ending. However, the P4 story arc feels weak compared to P3's, which brings back all of the cast together, making it more exiting.

Story mode has a lot of new content.

Gameplay- Gameplay-wise, Ultimax plays as similarly to Arena in terms of the layout and mechanics, with a few tweaks.Fortunately, newcomers will quickly be pulling off flashy combos due to the game's accessibility and training modes. As for the character roster, Adachi, Margret, Marie, and many characters from P3 and P4 make an grand playable, each varied with their own fighting styles and tactics. Also, shadow versions of the characters are included, only expanding the roster even more.

Furthermore, there are the usual modes, arcade mode features characters' separate stories, training mode is for those looking for practice, score attack contains character specific challenges, and network mode, which allows for online matches.

Golden Arena Mode is by far the best and time-consuming addition.Similar to traditional Persona games worked, Golden Arena has you choosing your character, picking a course, and battling your way through the countless floors, as well as leveling up your character in the process. It's a great addition for those who are looking for something compelling and addicting.

Gameplay is solid and engaging,
thanks to various modes.
Visuals & Sound- The visuals are detailed and are excellent.Character sprites and their personas are beautifully drawn and suits the style of the game well. The same goes for the game's stages, which are bright and filled with detail.Of course this wouldn't be a Persona game without a great soundtrack. As always, composer Shoji Meguro delivers an amazing job doing the game's score.Tracks from Persona 3 and 4 return and they are great, as well as new tracks for the game. The tracks are great and I didn't find it be an annoyance during fights.

The 2D character visuals are fantastic,
as well as the amazing soundtrack
Overall- If you like are the Persona series or fighting games in general, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax does not disappoint. It greatly expands over it's predecessor, thanks to it's interesting narrative, varied game modes that anyone can play, awesome soundtrack, and solid gameplay.Ultimax is strongly recommended.

EXCELLENT
