Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Review

After the disappointing Ghosts, the Call of Duty series makes its first proper debut on the next gen. systems with Advanced Warfare from developer Sledgehammer Games.Does this latest entry in the series proves to be a blockbuster hit or end up like its predecessor?

Story- Set in the near future, ATLAS, run by Michael Irons is one of the largest and powerful organizations in the world and basically controls wars.Mitchell, our protagonist, has quit the american military due to him losing his arm and best friend, Will Irons.Later, Michael Irons, who happens to be Will's father, offers Mitchell a position in ATLAS and the story unfolds as the game progresses. On the narrative side, Advanced Warfare does a great job hooking into the story and learning more about certain character's motivations, though its very obvious what happens in the end.

The narrative is one of the best
aspects of Advanced Warfare.

Gameplay- Gameplay is what you expect from a Call of Duty game, first-person shooting, multiplayer, etc.; however its been improved in Advanced Warfare. The biggest addition to gameplay is the exoskeleton suits which allows you to sprint faster and jump to higher areas, while these features may seem simple, they change gameplay a bit.Furthermore, multiplayer is the main attraction. There are new maps that makes use of the exo suits's abilities and fun multiplayer modes.Weapons handle differently from others and its really satisfying to customize your load out as well as your exo suit.

The controls are handled
neatly and feels more refined.
Presentation- Visually, Advanced Warfare is stunning on the PS4 and Xbox One.The cutscenes are among the best looking in the series as well as the in-game visuals. The level design and weapons are full of detail and variety. In terms of performances, its one of the game's positives.Kevin Spacey does a fantastic job portraying ATLAS's war-obsessed CEO, Micahel Irons; Troy Baker also does a fine job portaying the game's protagonist, Mitchell.

Presentation-wise, Advanced Warfare
does looks and sounds great.

Overall- Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is by far one of the best iterations in the annual series.Despite my problems with its very predictable ending and minor gameplay additions, the performances and narrative, as well as its multiplayer mode, keeps it entertaining.Sledgehammer Games have done a great amount of work on Advanced Warfare and it shows.
