Top 10 Anticipated Games of 2017

Welcome to 2017.

2017 is shaping up to be a marginally better year compared to 2016 in terms of games. Much anticipated titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Persona 5 finally are making their release this year. Additionally, Nintendo and Microsoft's latest home consoles, Nintendo Switch and Project Scorpio, receptively, are scheduled to release this year as well. So with much excitement I've listed my top 10 anticipated games of the year, have a look:

#10
Tekken 7: Fated Retribution (TBA 2017)
The latest in the long-running Tekken fighting series, Fated Retribution is said to be more darker than before in terms of story. Gameplay-wise there's a lot of new additions and new faces as their are over eight new characters joining the game's roster. As a person who spent countless matches in previous Tekken games, I can't wait to blaze through many rounds in Fated Retribution.

#9
Cuphead (Mid-2017)

Cuphead is a indie run-and-gun game developed by Studio MDHR . It has a charming 1930's cartoony style and follows the titular, Cuphead, as he must repay his debt to the devil. Based on its trailer released a few years back, it seems to be a neat, chaotic adventure and I can't wait to play it soon.

#8
Resident Evil 7 (Jan. 24)

Capcom's upcoming Resident Evil 7 looks like it's going to reinvent the perishing series starting with its first-person view. The story feels a tiny bit similar to Silent Hill 2 in which we follow protagonist Ethan Winters as he searches for his wife, Mia. He is led to the ominous mansion of the Baker family, where Mia could be trapped there. While not much has been revealed about the game, it really doesn't matter since its releasing later this month.

#7
Gran Turismo Sport (TBA 2017)

Would you believe that the pic. above is taken directly from GT Sport? It's about time is what I have to say first. The latest entry in the long-running racing simulator, Gran Turismo, Gran Turismo Sport is shaping up to be one of the best-looking game on the PS4 and this console gen. Developer Polyphony Digital is putting huge effort in Sport and it shows. Featuring features such as a campaign and an arcade mode, as well as multiplayer, GT Sport looks like it's going to be a fun ride.

#6
Sonic Mania (Spring 2017)

Sonic's going back to his 16-bit Genesis days in Sonic Mania and you can't blame him for that. After 2014's disaster known as Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, it's for the best to go back to his roots. Based on the footage revealed over the past months, it's filled with remixed stages of previous stages and new ones as well, which looks promising. Tails and Knuckles are also joining the adventure as well. Best of all is that developer Christian Whitehead, who's responsible for the excellent Sonic CD Remaster, is on the development team, which is a fantastic news for the game.

#5
Nier: Automata (Mar. 7)

The sequel to 2010's cult game, Nier, Nier: Automata is shaping up to be one of the year's best action games. Why? It's being developed by Platinum Games, so one should expect faced-paced, over-the-top non-stop action. The premise follow androids 2B, 9S, and A2 as they journey across a post-apocalyptic land.

#4
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (TBA 2017)

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the few games that's debuting on Nontendo's upcoming console, the Nintendo Switch. I'm exited for the open-world structure and new gameplay additions to the series. I haven't seen much footage of it lately, but I doubt that it will be nothing other than another instant hit in the long-running series.

#3
Gravity Rush 2 (Jan. 24)

The sequel to PS Vita hit, Gravity Rush 2, sees the return of gravity-shifter Kat and her newfound friend, Raven as they face a new enemy terrorizing the city of Heksvelle. Bigger, better, and more engaging than before, Gravity Rush 2 strives to improve upon the Vita original and after playing the recently released demo, I can't wait to play the final game.

#2
Persona 5 (Apr.4)

Originally released last year in Japan, Persona 5 proved to be a smash hit there and it looks to be a classic here in the west as well. Packing a new style this time, as well as new characters and story, Persona 5 is shaping up to be one of the year's top games. Who knows, maybe even game of the year.

#1
Final Fantasy VII Remake (TBA 2017)

The much anticipated and long-awaited remake of one of the most quintessential game of 1997 is finally said to be making its way in 2017. First revealed back in 2015, Final Fantasy VII Remake looks to change and improve upon the 1997 classic, hopefully it'll all be for the best. By far my most-anticipated game of this year, especially since the original Final Fantasy VII was a fun and memorable adventure. I can't wait to see what will Square Enix will do in this remake.

Well, these are my picks of the 10 most anticipated games of the year. Hopefully most of them won't get delayed like every other year but if it means a better game, then I can't complain. Anyway, please share out your 10 anticipated games of the year and let's hope it's going to be another great year for games as well.
