Nintendo's Killing It With Indies

Travis strikes once again.

It's no surprise that the newly released Nintendo Switch has been a huge financial success for Nintendo after the dark years of the Wii U. While it had some of the best titles Nintendo has released, the Wii U sold a measly $13 million and didn't fare well against its competitors, the PS4 and Xbox One, which sold over $60 million and $30 million units, respectively. However, Nintendo seems to have learned much from the Wii U's mistakes since the Switch managed to sell over $2 million units in its first month of sale and is showing no signs of stopping. Recently, Nintendo showcased some new, neat indie titles, dubbed "Nindies", in the recent PAX West event. Some of these titles include the weirdly appetising Battle Chef Brigade; the Elder Scrolls meets anime, Away: Journey to the Unexpected; the Ikaruga-inspired, Dimension Drive; aaaaaaaaaaaaand the latest entry in what feels like forever in the No More Heroes series, Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes. Celebrating the series' 10th anniversary, Travis Strikes Again is the third entry the underrated series and sees the comeback of protagonist Travis Touchdown. Ever since its announcement earlier this year, I was stocked to hear of another NMH game and after watching the trailer, I can't wait. Interestingly, the game's being developed on Unreal Engine 4, possibly to cut-down on development time, but hopefully it'll be polished by the time it rolls out. I've been holding out on buying a Switch for a while now, mainly due to the minimal amount of titles being released on it so far, but I may just in fact buy one just for the indies listed above. I'm happy that Nintendo learned from their previous mistakes and are making an effort into making their hybrid console one of the best in the market, though I won't be surprised if they make some serious dull-witted moves since this is Nintendo we're talking about. Nevertheless, things are looking well for the Nintendo Switch and hopefully it continues that way.

Also, here are the links to some of the games that I talked should you want to check them out:
