Zone of the Enders 2 Gets Remastered!

Some love at last...

After Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima cancelled work on Zone of the Enders 3 due to the lackluster sales of the Zone of the Enders HD Collection, I thought that the hugely underrated and cult series, Zone of the Enders was done for, that was reassured when Kojima ultimately left Konami in 2015. In case you don't know what I'm talking about, Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner is a 2003 mech hack-and-slash game released for the PlayStation 2. Set in the far future, you control pilot Dingo Egret, who navigates a powerful mech (called Orbital Frames in the game) Jehuty and fights off terrorist group, BAHRAM. If you're interested, I reviewed the game last year here. This remaster is based on the 2012 remaster, a remaster of a remaster, released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. This new remaster titled "Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner Mars" includes VR support for both PS4 and PC in which you control Jehuty from cockpit view, 4k resolution, enhanced graphics, and additional unannounced features. Mars is slated for a Spring 2018 release date, so it's a while away. While a shame that the first Zone of the Enders didn't get the same amount of love, but seeing as The 2nd Runner is the popular of the two, it was only natural that they would ignore it. Moreover, news of a Zone of the Enders remaster at the recent Tokyo Game Show, came as a surprise since it turns out that Konami is still interested in the series and if this remaster does well, something may be in plans after all, just hopefully it won't be in the form of a pachinko machine slot...

"Jehuty lives. And there, Anubis thrives."
