The Resident Evil 3 Remake Is Really A Thing!

Aw yeah!

During today's PlayStation State of Play, Capcom finally announced the long-awaited remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. Released way back in 1999 for the PlayStation, it stars Resident Evil 1 survivor, Jill Valentine as she tries to escape a zombie-infested Raccoon City while also being chased by an invincible bioweapon named Nemesis. Given that the original game is over 20 years old, it's obvious that it hasn't aged all that gracefully.

While rumors of a RE3 remake were on the rise a while ago, with even a leaked logo image, I personally chose to wait for the official announcement and now that's here... there's a lot to talk about. First off, the game looks absolutely stunning, thanks to Capcom's impressive RE game engine. The backgrounds, enemies, and models look pretty similar to Resident Evil 2 Remake, which isn't a surprise since they share the same setting and engine after all. The gameplay is your standard third-person action affair, with the dodge mechanic returning from the original game and a new multiplayer mode dubbed "Resident Evil Resistance" is included with the remake, which is neat.

Jill is back, baby!

Personally, I'm not a fan of both Jill and Nemesis' new designs, as I'm more of a fan of her Resident Evil Remake, 5, and Revelations look, so seeing her new redesign kind of threw me off a bit. Nemesis still is intimidating, but I feel he looks less scarier than before, but that's my take. Nonetheless, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is among my favorite games of all-time and despite the few gripes I have with some of the redesigns, I'm pretty confident in saying that it'll stay true to the original game by capturing its sense of vulnerability, especially with Nemesis chasing you around and all. I'm more surprised that we got another remake so soon, especially months after the second one came out. RE3 REmake is slated for a April 3, 2020 release and here's hoping it'll exceed expectations!

Of course the game STARS everyone's favorite monstrosity, Nemesis.
