Top 5 Anticipated Games of 2021!

It's 2021 and that means there's new games to get excited for... well mostly. I'm planning on taking this year to mainly play games that I've been meaning to play for a long while and trimming down my backlog before planning on getting a PS5. Naturally, this means that there are fewer games to get excited for given that most of them will be exclusive to the next-gen systems, but I did manage to find five games that caught my attention. Aside from the new releases, I'll be mostly sinking myself in a couple of RPG games that I've also been wanting to play for a while, so expect activity on the site to be a bit slow these coming months! Anyway, without further delays, here are the games I'm most excited for in 2021!

Balan Wonderland (Square Enix)

One of the game I'm more interested in this year has to be Balan Wonderland. Heavily inspired by the likes of Sega platformer Nights into Dreams, Balan Wonderland features a similar aesthetic where two children follow the mysterious character Balan to Wonderland. The game is a 3D platformer where you explore Wonderland's various stages and beating bosses using different costumes that grant you powers. It's a little rough around the edges, but here's hoping it turns out to be a fun game. It's coming out on March 21.

Halo Infinite (Microsoft)

After many delays and a less than stellar E3 gameplay showcase, Halo Infinite looks like it's finally ready to be released this year. Picking up the things after Halo 5, we follow Master Chief on another journey, this time facing a new threat. The gameplay retains the classic Halo FPS mechanics while introducing new features such as a grappling hook to the mix. Admittedly, the game wasn't a stunner when it was first showcased last year though thankfully developer 343 Industries have been hard at work at making the best it came be. Will it be a breakthrough success just like the original games? Only time will tell. For now, the game is slated to release later this year for Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X.

No More Heroes III (Grasshopper Manufacture)

Probably a game that feels like forever since it was announced, No More Heroes III hopefully looks like it'll be released sometime this during 2021 after a delay last year. As a huge fan of the series, it's great seeing Travis Touchdown on a new adventure, this time with aliens threatening the world. A hack-and-slash game with a huge emphasis on flashy visuals, I've been excited to play the game for ages, though this time the wait seems to be nearly over. For those interested in the series, the first two games got Nintendo Switch ports not long ago, so they're worth checking out before jumping into NMHIII.

Resident Evil 8: Village (Capcom)

The much anticipated Resident Evil 8 or Village finally received a gameplay showcase and demo just recently and it's looking great. A follow-up to the fantastic Resident Evil 7, the game sees the return of protagonist Ethan Winters as well as veteran Chris Redfield who are in a mysterious village in Europe. The game retains the first-person gameplay of RE7 with a new location explore and weird enemies to beat. As a huge fan of the series, I'm excited to see what's in store next and here's hoping it'll be a amazing game when it releases on May 7.

New Pokemon Snap (Nintendo)

The original Pokemon Snap was among the most unique games on the Nintendo 64 when it released back in 1999. An odd combination between Pokemon and photography, it was a neat little game where you take photos of wild Pokemon as you explore Pokemon Island. Now two decades later, a sequel to the game is near with New Pokemon Snap. Featuring a new region to explore, more Pokemon to photograph, and new gameplay mechanics, the game aims to be an improvement over the original. As one that missed out on the original game, I'm looking forward to checking out New Pokemon Snap. Thankfully, the wait won't be too long as it launches on April 30th.
